Patricia Arquette Accidentally Injures Her The Act Co-Star Joey King With Golden Globe Trophy

Patricia Arquette walked away from the 77th Annual Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday night with a trophy for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film for her amazing performance in the Hulu series The Act. But, later in the evening the trophy ended up being an accidental weapon that caused her co-star Joey King some serious bruises.

King tweeted a couple of photos after the awards ceremony, and they revealed that the 20-year-old actress had a huge bruise on her forehead. She explained in the caption how it happened.

“Patricia Arquette accidentally hit me in the head with her Golden Globe,” King tweeted. “That sentence will give me bragging rights for the rest of my life. @PattyArquette.”

The 51-year-old actress immediately replied with an apology and wrote, “What happens in the elevator stays in the elevator! No seriously I’m so sorry sweetest one!”

The elevator Arquette was referring to was from a short clip posted by InStyle magazine. In the video, Arquette and King are celebrating Arquette’s victory as they enter the publication’s afterparty. And, as they are dancing around, viewers can see the moment when King accidentally comes in contact with Arquette’s trophy.

At the exact moment that Arquette raises her prize, King leaned her head forward. Seriously, it looked like it really hurt.

“When we went backstage, they were taking pictures and they had all these props and me and Joey were taking a picture together and I picked this viking hat,” Arquette told Entertainment Tonight. “I decided, I’m just going to keep it with me. Now, while we’re taking the pictures, Joey’s behind me dancing around and I go like this [holds up Globe], bang! I bang her on the head. Now she’s got this giant knot on her head!”

Arquette won the award for her performance as Dee Dee Blanchard in The Act, which is a true-crime story about a woman with Munchhausen’s By Proxy and her poor daughter who discovered the ruse before it ended in unexpected tragedy.

When accepting her award, Arquette gave an impassioned speech about the importance of voting and leaving a better world for our kids. Patricia Arquette said our country is on the brink of war and we have a President tweeting bomb threats, which means everyone needs to vote in 2020.
